Half Marathon Relay:
All relays will receive:
- 1 ACTIVE bib attached to a belt (the DIVA/DUDE exchange) -THE TIMING BELT.
- PLUS additional “non-active bibs” for each member of the team
All members of the team need to clip their “non-active” bib to their clothing so they can be easily identified during the event. However, the “Active DIVA/DUDE exchange bib” attached to the belt is what you will all carry with you and pass to the next runner in your team in order to continue the race. Please make sure to identify the active bib as follows:
- It has an active timing strip attached to the back of the bib
- It is attached to a timing belt, included in your package. (Timing belts will be collected at the finish line)
Each runner will need to attach a non-active bib to their clothing…..HOWEVER, the bib attached to the belt (the DIVA/DUDE exchange) is the active timing mechanism that will need to be passed on at each relay exchange location.
Leg 1 (3.7 miles) – Runner 1 will start the race with the half marathon general field. In order to start their leg, Runner 1 will wear their inactive bib number attached to their clothing PLUS the belt with the ACTIVE DIVA/DUDE exchange belt which they will need to pass on to Runner 2 at Exchange 1. Runner 2 will need to wear their inactive bib number attached to their clothing BUT they will need to receive the ACTIVE DIVA/DUDE exchange belt from Runner 1 to begin their leg. Runner 2 will run 5.65 miles and once finished, Runner 2 will head back to Exchange 3 at Sixto Escobar to meet up with Runner 1 and wait for Runner 3 to all three cross the finish line together.
Leg 3 (3.76 miles) – Runner 3 will stage at EXCHANGE 2 (Ave. Constitucion and San Augustin in front of Cond. Torre de la Reina). Runner 3 will run 3.76 miles…AND as Runner 3 approaches the finish line, they will approach Exchange 3 (at Sixto Escobar) where they will meet up with their team members and cross the finish together in victory!
PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT AS YOU MAKE YOUR WAY BACK INTO SIXTO ESCOBAR, YOU PAY ATTENTION TO RUNNERS COMING INTO THE PARK AND PLEASE DO NOT WALK IN FRONT OF THEM…THIS IS PART OF THE RACE COURSE SO ENCOURAGE THEM AND CHEER THEM ON BUT PLEASE DON’T GET IN THEIR WAY .
