Half Marathon Course Overview

Discover Vail Valley during this great event.  Experience the beauty of Vail in the summertime, with its amazing mountain vistas, superb climate and just enough of a challenge to make you feel strong and accomplished but still able to enjoy a night in the town during our Diva Weekend.  The Divas Half Marathon® in Vail, to be held on August 21, 2011, will be the complete girl’s weekend package.  Come in for a few days to enjoy the run, but also enjoy this amazing town with shops, dining, tons of other outdoor activities, and of course, world famous spas.   As you run in the valley you will experience some rolling elevations but the route is designed with no sharp climbs.   You will however, experience the best of the mountain experience with runners enjoying views of the Gore and Holy Cross Mountain Ranges, running adjacent to Gore Creek and Holy Cross Wilderness, plus running through the iconic Vail and Lionshead Villages, finishing at Ford Park and being given a medal, flower and a flute of champagne by a handsome mountain hunk.

This event begins at an altitude of 8,247 ft but it is most flat with a total elevation gain of only 331 ft!

Diva Entourage (spectators)

How do I become a Diva Entourage

Divas love to be adored so diva runners love spectators and cheerleaders everywhere along the course! If you are part of a group of Want-To-Be-Loud-Cheerleaders at the Divas Half Marathon®, please Let Us Know, so we can help organize your group's location!

Spectator Tipsdivas

Being a spectator and a cheerleader for your favorite diva runner is a great way to be part of this event! There's plenty for residents and visitors to see and enjoy along the course. But just as the runners take time to prepare for this event, you can also prepare and plan ahead for a memorable experience:

  • Review the course map and plan your route. With 2,500 runners it may be difficult, and at some times impossible, to cross the course during the race, even on foot.
  • Know your runner’s expected pace per mile so you will know when he or she will be at the different locations on the course.
  • Move around on bicycle or skates (minding all street closures) and surprise your runner at different locations on the route,
  • Make sure you bring a beach chair or blanket, horns, signs and a great attitude to have fun and become a cheerleader.
